Evaluation process

Aiming to contribute to the strengthening of the scientific community regarding research of issues and topics related to human, social, and educational development, Aletheia evaluates all submissions under the double-blind peer review system, preserving the anonymity of the author and the evaluator. Each paper is submitted to analysis by renowned experts and researchers in the field of the subject of the text.

To carry out this process, academic peers follow two types of assessment: quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative assessment allows evaluators to grade the articles based on a five-point scale. This assessment determines whether the document is suitable for publication and under what conditions. In addition, qualitative assessment is intended for evaluators to give their opinion about the text and make suggestions to improve its quality.

Thus, the resulting opinion is seen as a support instrument for authors, as it allows them to enrich and improve the presentation of their reflections, if applicable, which will ultimately favor the submission of their scientific papers.

Following reception of the evaluators’ opinion, authors will have up to two weeks to make the corresponding adjustments or changes requested and to send the article back.

Through this evaluation process, Aletheia aims to conduct an objective, critical, demanding, and respectful assessment of each paper submitted for consideration.

To carry out this process, each evaluator must fill in an evaluation format.

Note: The assessment may sometimes take a little longer than planned. Therefore, it is asked that, after submitting the articles, authors wait a maximum of one year for the evaluation.

Exclusivity

Authors who choose to publish in Aletheia must submit original and previously unpublished papers; also, it is understood that, by submitting them, they authorize the evaluation and subsequent publication. In this sense, once the publication has been approved, the commitment of the author(s) is(are) expected to carry out the required changes.

Authors are asked, after choosing Aletheia as the journal to publish their papers, not to submit the same paper for publication in any other means.

After a paper is approved, the journal committee will ask authors to submit the publication authorization letter, duly signed and in a scanned or original copy.

The journal can publish works already published in other media, as long as it has the express approval of the publisher or magazine.

Citation and Reference Style

Revista Aletheia uses the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition guidelines to ensure uniformity and accuracy in citations and references. The detailed guidelines are as follows:

Citations

Direct quotations

Quotations under 40 words: Direct quotations containing fewer than 40 words must be included within the text, enclosed in double quotation marks, and without italics. The author's last name, year of publication, and the page number must be included.

Example: According to Muñoz-Guevara et al. (2021), “it is important to note that in Education 4.0, objectives and evaluation criteria must first be defined, then content selected and learning activities designed, and finally, consideration given to which technological tools can facilitate this process” (p. 5).

Quotations of 40 words or more: Long quotations (40 words or more) should be presented in a separate block of text, without quotation marks, indented 1.27 cm (0.5 inches) from the left margin. The same line spacing (1.5) as the rest of the text should be used, with no italics.

Example:

Muñoz-Guevara et al.’s (2021) research highlights:

New digital technologies primarily impact education. Additionally, the geographic expansion of this technology forces educational institutions to reformulate and ensure the quality of their academic programs in response to issues of accessibility and digital literacy. Ultimately, this is a social obligation, where institutions play a role in the democratization of education. (p. 7)

Multiple citations from the same author and year:

When citing multiple works by the same author from the same year, use lowercase letters to differentiate them (e.g., 2021a, 2021b).

Example: (Smith, 2021a).

Paraphrased citations

Quotation marks are not required, but the author's last name and the year of publication must be included.

Example: According to García (2018), human development is deeply influenced by cultural and social contexts.

Citations of works with multiple authors

Two authors: Include both authors’ last names separated by “and” in the text, or by “&” in parentheses.

Example in text: (López and Martínez, 2022).
Example in parentheses: (López & Martínez, 2022).

Three or more authors: Use the first author's last name followed by “et al.” from the first mention.

Example: (González et al., 2020).

At the end of the document, a complete list of references corresponding to the citations used in the text must be included. Articles are expected to have no fewer than 25 references. Below are some common formats:
