Aesthetics in young educated women, its meaning and significance

Abstract

This research aims to analyze some ways of construction of female identity throughbody language of educated youth. The different elements that shape the aesthetic ofthese young people were studied by observing their particular clothing, which alterstheir school uniform and is contrary to the institutional standards and which also is away of constructing bodies from pre-established canons of beauty that are reproducedfrom the subjectivity of students. The article also explores the use of makeup andexaggerated accessories, how that gives meaning to the construction of young femalebody within the school. This is a qualitative research with hermeneutic approach andit seeks to understand the different meanings that people give to their experiences.The focus group was used as a methodological tool, and it consists of seven studentsfrom seventh grade to ninth from the educational institution Compartir de Soacha.The results allow us to affirm that the use of makeup and wardrobe modificationsseeks to show a different appearance from the assigned one by the regulations in theschool environment and through these expressions and attitudes, the students try toset their own identity.
