Abstract

This article presents the findings concerning the research work “Agency, policy andculture in the Afro-Colombian community in the 19 in Oasis suburb in Altos de Cazucá,organization systems and social visibility”, where the main idea is to comprehend whatare the agency processes and how they emerge in the community leaders. For datacollection it was used the semi-structured interview, the observation and the fielddiary. The analysis method used was the theory-based. In the investigative process,it was found that the limit situations they go through in any moment in their lives,become a kind of detonator to achieve the agency. At the same time, it showed thatthe agency in the community leaders is given in two big lines: the first one is the needto have an impact and being represented in public policies. The second one is aboutachieve a cultural visibility that contributes to be treated as an Afro community underthe same conditions and without racial discrimination treatments.
