SOCIAL INCLUSION: LIFE EXPERIENCES OF THREE PEOPLE WITH LOW VISION

Abstract
This article is a product of the research work that was carried out by the authors to obtain the masters degree. The research aimed to reveal the main aspects that affect the social inclusion of three people with low vision (hereafter PBV). It was used the qualitative techniques as the methodology, and also the field diaries and interviews. The exercise was conducted in the fields of rehabilitation, education and employment; in the cities of Bogotá, Neiva and Zipaquirá, respectively. This work also includes an interview with a relative of each of the PBV and another one with an expert on the issue of social inclusion in each of these areas. After the fieldwork, it was done the analysis of information across three categories: social interaction, mobility, access to social resources and communication skills. The results found show the necessity that the three people have to take advantage efficiently from the resources they have. They also have to count with family support, and also the environment in which they life have to offer opportunities.
