"BEING A MAN": AN APPROACH TO SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS ABOUT MASCULINITY OF YOUNG MEN OF CIUDAD BOLIVAR AND THE CONFIGURATION OF THEIR POLITICAL REPRESENTATIONS

Abstract
The study analyzes how young men reflect and play a role in their community according to their social representations of masculinity. These representations transcend the political subjectivities and are mediated by the patriarchal model of masculinity, characterized by ideologies that associate men with certain forms of power founded on domination. Strongly stimulated during primary socialization processes (childhood and youth), these representations difficult construction of gender identities that are critical in production of participatory and political subjects of a society based on experiences of respect and fairness.
