Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this article is to understand the territories of reading, writing and orality in Colombia’s Coffee Region through the narratives produced by the sociocultural promoters that work for the Count on Efigas program. This qualitative study used Participatory Action Research (PAR) and narrative analysis methodologies. The participants were 74 sociocultural promoters, including teachers, librarians and cultural managers, and who worked with 500 children and young people. The results show significant transformations in reading, writing and orality practices in the communities, highlighting the importance of using the sociocultural approach and focusing on human capabilities to develop communicative and critical skills. The authors’ conclusions highlight the need to democratize these practices in order to encourage the active and conscious participation of individuals in communities.
