Pensamiento crítico y motivación hacia el pensamiento crítico en estudiantes de psicología

El pensamiento crítico ha sido asociado a mejor desempeño académico. Con el fin de identificar focos de intervención para mejorar la calidad de un programa académico de psicología de una institución de educación superior (IES), se evaluaron las habilidades en pensamiento crítico y la motivación hacia este por parte de algunos estudiantes adscritos a dicho programa. La muestra, seleccionada de una manera no probabilística, estuvo conformada por 65 estudiantes (55 mujeres y 10 hombres entre 16 y 47 años, Medad = 20,3). Se aplicaron dos instrumentos, el PENCRISAL y la Escala de Motivación hacia el Pensamiento Crítico (EMPC) para evaluar, respectivamente, las habilidades en pensamiento crítico y la motivación hacia este. Los resultados indican que tantos los hombres como las mujeres evaluados tienen importantes debilidades para pensar de manera crítica. En cuanto a la motivación, se aprecia que lo participantes reconocen que pensamiento crítico es útil e importante, pero su disposición para involucrarse en esta forma de pensamiento, y asumir los costos que ello implica, es menor.
